Basketball Recap: Carlei Brown Key Part of a Team Effort in Chargers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Olive Branch, Grenada was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-46 win over the Rosa Fort Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-46 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grenada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carlei Brown, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. Brown has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 20 times she's played. Madison Woodard was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

Grenada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Grenada has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Rosa Fort, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Grenada will head out to face off against Center Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Center Hill has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 170 points over their last three games. As for Rosa Fort, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Rosa Fort Lions duke it out with the North Panola Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
