The East Bladen Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to West Columbus. That's two games in a row now that East Bladen has lost by exactly one point.
Unique Kelly was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds for West Columbus. Kelly has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston Freeman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
East Bladen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for West Columbus, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
East Bladen will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pender is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for West Columbus, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Whiteville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday.
