The Seneca Indians will be home for the holidays to greet the Neosho Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Seneca fought the good fight in their overtime game against Carl Junction on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Seneca has not had much luck with Carl Junction recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Neosho scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-51 victory over Monett. With that win, Neosho brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.
Neosho found their leader in underclassman Kaiden Asberry, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Asberry pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Harris, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Seneca's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Neosho, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.
Seneca ended up a good deal behind Neosho in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 72-53. Thankfully for Seneca, Isaiah Green (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
