Basketball Recap: Owen Zwolinski's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Geneva Classical Academy over Riverview Academy of Math and Science

On Tuesday, the Geneva Classical Academy Knights were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-59 to the Riverview Academy of Math and Science Barracudas.

Geneva Classical Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Zwolinski, who went 10 for 23 en route to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Those 27 points gave Zwolinski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miguel Figueroa, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science was led to victory by Aaron Riley and Caden Cook. Riley went 9 of 17 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds, while Cook dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Riley has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Tayshaun Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Geneva Classical Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Riverview Academy of Math and Science, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Patel the next time they take the court. Riverview Academy of Math and Science will head out to face Patel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Geneva Classical Academy will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
