Hunter is 10-0 against the Jaguars since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hunter Wolverines will be playing at home against the West Jordan Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hunter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They fell 64-57 to Kearns. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hunter in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Hunter saw an underclassman step up: Grace Gallagher dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gallagher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalysa Ng, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Meanwhile, West Jordan had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Granger 57-26 on the road.
Giselle Muffet continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of West Jordan's points. Isabella Knight was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Hunter's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for West Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hunter have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like West Jordan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hunter came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jaguars in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 65-63. Will Hunter repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
