Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Timberland T-Wolves. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the T-Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Lutheran was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.

Aubrey Roshek paced Lutheran's offense, picking up 11 kills. Roshek got some help from Eliana Sweet and her 17 assists. Charly Scherer controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Timberland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Karis Blankenship out in front who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs gave Blankenship a new career-high. Laney Swisher was another key player, getting ten digs and two assists.

Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 8-13-1. As for Timberland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6-1 record this season.

Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Logan-Rogersville on the 10th. Timberland has also already played their next matchup (against Parkway West), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
