Given Grand Saline's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while Rivercrest is ranked 1178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rivercrest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Duvall, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Duvall scored a full 29% of Rivercrest's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Claire Grider, who scored 10 points.
Grand Saline is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Rivercrest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Grand Saline will be playing at home against Lone Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rivercrest will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Community at 1:20 p.m. on December 8th. Community is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
