Baseball Recap: Riverside Academy Wins Going Away Against Deridder

Riverside Academy never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against DeRidder on Saturday. They blew past the DeRidder Dragons 14-0. Considering the Rebels have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Vicknair made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Ayden Bullock was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Ryan Poche was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Riverside Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win snapped Riverside Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-4 record. As for DeRidder, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Riverside Academy will venture away from home to take on St. Amant at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for DeRidder, they are taking a road trip to challenge Thibodaux at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
