The Town East Christian Eagles were the 70-45 winner over the Vanguard Christian Knights when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Town East Christian took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vanguard Christian.
Despite the loss, Town East Christian still got an impressive performance from Owen Cadena, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Cadena hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Steven Windhorst was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Vanguard Christian's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thomas Huron, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Postell, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Town East Christian has fallen quite a ways from their 20-7 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Vanguard Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Town East Christian will head out on the road to take on Salem Sayers Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vanguard Christian, they will be playing at home against San Antonio Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Antonio Prep is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
