Softball Recap: Crestline's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Crestline dropped their record down to 5-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Lucas Cubs. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Addisyn Lavene put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Lucas, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

Like Crestline, Lucas also got a great game from a two-way player: Maddie Boyer. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Boyer has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Arya Ohm was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crestline will square off against East Knox at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lucas, they will face off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
