MaxPreps Midwest Top 25 high school football rankings

Previously-ranked St. Ignatius (Cleveland) upset then No. 3 St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) and there are five new teams in this week's rankings.

1. (Last week 1) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio) 8-0
The Crusaders posted their 14th straight victory by beating Cathedral (Indianapolis) 35-14. Gus Ragland completed 11 of 17 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown while also running 15 times for 83 yards and another touchdown. Isaiah Gentry had six catches for 160 yards and one score.
Next: Saturday at No. 6 St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio)

2. (2) Colerain (Cincinnati) 8-0
The Cardinals soared past Mason (Ohio), 63-14, behind the excellence of Kelvin Cook, who completed seven of nine passes for 128 yards and one touchdown while also running 10 times for 114 yards and a second touchdown.
Next: Friday at Middletown (Ohio)

3. (4) Cass Tech (Detroit) 8-0
The Technicians shut out East English Village (Detroit) 19-0 in the city tournament semifinals. Gary Hosey led the way by running 11 times for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Brian Sanders had three sacks.
Next: Friday vs. King (Detroit) for the city championship at Ford Field

4. (5) Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) 8-0
The Warriors blanked University of Detroit Jesuit (Detroit) 38-0 as Alex Malzone completed 12 of 17 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown and ran for another touchdown.
Next: Saturday vs. once-beaten Catholic Central (Novi, Mich.) in the Prep Bowl at Ford Field 

5. (6) Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill.) 8-0
Despite missing five injured starters, the Ramblers posted a 35-7 victory over Lake Forest Academy (Lake Forest, Ill.). Donnel Haley helped make it a happy Senior Day by running for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

6. (3) St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) 6-1
Previously unbeaten and ranked No. 3, the Eagles were grounded by arch rival St. Ignatius (Cleveland), 23-17. Junior Shaun Crawford ran for an 80-yard touchdown, but four turnovers were too much to overcome.
Next: Saturday vs. No. 1-ranked Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati)

7. (7) Blue Springs (Mo.) 8-0
Dalvin Warmack ran 14 times for 224 yards and four touchdowns in one half during a 41-14 victory over Raymore-Peculiar (Peculiar, Mo.).

8. (8) Eden Prairie (Minn.) 7-0
Ryan Connelly completed four of five passes — three for touchdowns — during a 37-0 rout of Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.).
Next: Friday vs. Armstrong (Robinsdale, Minn.) in first round of Class 6A state tournament

9. (9) Montini (Lombard, Ill.) 8-0
The Broncos routed Aurora Christian (Ill.), which was without nine injured players, by a 49-0 margin. Nikko Italia set the pace by scoring three touchdowns.

10. (10) Mount Carmel (Chicago) 7-1
Jimmy Mickens carried 31 times for 118 yards and one touchdown and the defense posted its fourth shutout during a 14-0 victory over Providence Catholic (New Lenox, Ill.).

11. (11) Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.) 9-0
The Kingsmen defeated archrival Mishawaka (Ind.), 28-7, to wrap up their 32nd Northern Indiana Conference championship. Zach Oakley dominated by running 14 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns and passing for two other scores.
Next: Friday at Portage (Ind.) in Class 6A sectional opener

12. (12) Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) 7-1
Scott Andrews ran 16 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns during a 55-0 rout of Addison Trail (Addison, Ill.).
Next: Saturday vs. York (Elmhurst, Ill.)
 
13. (13) Dowling (West Des Moines, Iowa) 8-0
The Maroons rolled past Hoover (Des Moines, Iowa) 62-7 as Rico Gafford had three catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Marshalltown (Iowa)

14. (17) Austintown-Fitch (Youngstown, Ohio) 8-0
The Falcons overcame rain and cold temperatures to rout Marion Harding (Marion, Ohio) 63-7. Darrin Hall carried 14 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns — all in the first half.

15. (15) Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) 8-1
Max Norris scored on runs of 85, 75 and 46 yards during a 55-37 victory over LaSalle (Cincinnati).
Next: Friday vs. New Albany (Ind.) in the Class 6A sectional opener

16. (16) Homestead (Mequon, Wis.) 9-0
The Highlanders posted their 15th consecutive victory and won the North Shore Conference championship by blanking Whitefish Bay (Wis.) 24-0. Eric Wade ran 25 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns.
Next: Friday vs. Madison (Milwaukee) in the Division II playoff opener

17. (NR) Bolingbrook (Ill.) 8-0
The Raiders handed previous No. 18 Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.) its second loss, 12-3, scoring all of its points in the fourth quarter. Sophomore linebacker Tuf Borland had two of his team's three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown.

18. (19) Dakota (Macomb, Mich.) 8-0
The Cougars dealt Chippewa Valley (Clinton Township, Mich.) its first loss by a decisive 52-7 margin as Maurice Moon gained 103 yards on just 10 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.

19. (NR) Lake Zurich (Ill.) 8-0
A.J. Trittschuh kicked field goals of 46 and 29 yards as the Bears defeated Libertyville (Ill.), 40-16.

20. (21) Wheaton North (Ill.) 7-1
The Falcons flew past Central (Naperville, Ill.), 31-17, as Clayton Thorson passed for 336 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth score.
Next: Friday vs. Glenbard North (Carol Stream, Ill.)

21. (23) Lincoln (Sioux Falls, S.D.) 8-0
The Patriots pounded Washington (Sioux Falls, S.D.), 43-7, behind the 1-2 punch of Caden Quintanilla and Connor Burchill. Quintanilla ran 15 times for 184 yards and three touchdowns, while Burchill completed 15 of 21 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns.
Next: Oct. 31 vs. Stevens (Rapid City, S.D.) in Class 3A state quarterfinals

22. (24) Washington (Ohio) 7-1
The Tigers ran up a 24-0 lead in the first 12 minutes and finished with 531 yards en route to a 59-34 victory over St. John's Collegiate (Brantford, Ontario, Canada).
Next: Friday vs. unbeaten St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio)

23. (NR) Carroll (Wichita, Kan.) 7-0
The Golden Eagles stretched their winning streak to 20 games with a 56-21 rout of Eisenhower (Goddard, Kan.). Junior quarterback Colton Howell completed 18 of 24 passes for 149 yards and rushed for four touchdowns.

24. (NR) Ben Davis (Indianapolis) 7-2
The Giants battled their way back into the Top 25 by beating a ranked team for the second time with their fifth straight victory, 28-24, over then-No. 20 Carmel (Ind.). Chris Evans helped overcome a 24-point deficit in the second quarter by running 25 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Kyle Castner passed for 251 yards and Michael Beaty had 11 catches for 129 yards.

25. (NR) Bismarck (N.D.) 8-0
The Demons routed Williston (N.D.), 66-13, for their 25th consecutive victory. Hayden Gibson completed 10 of 11 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns, while Dalton Sanders ran just six times, but gained 115 yards and scored three times.
Next: Friday vs. Minot/Dakota Memorial (Minot, N.D.)

No. 14 Wheaton-Warrenville South (Wheaton, Ill.) lost to Glenbard North (Carol Stream, Ill.) 37-21.
No. 18 Lincoln-Way East (Frankfort, Ill.) lost to unbeaten Bolingbrook (Ill.) 12-3.
No. 20 Carmel (Ind.) lost to Ben Davis (Indianapolis) 28-24.
No. 22 Omaha North (Neb.) lost to Bellevue West (Neb.) 35-30.
No. 25 Omaha Westside (Neb.) lost to Millard North (Omaha, Neb.) 42-35.

The Midwestern region includes all teams from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
