Prairie extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Troy Trojans as they made off with an 18-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kade Quintal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jake Quintal and Phil Schwartz did most of the damage at the plate: Jake went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Schwartz went 2-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. With that strong performance, Schwartz is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Carter Shears was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Prairie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
As for Troy, they now have a losing record of 5-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Prairie since April 23, 2022.
On Troy's side, Makhi Durrett was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The Trojans are 4-1 when Durrett posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dominic Holden, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Prairie beat Troy by a score of 21-2 later that day.
