The Capital Cougars will square off against the PikeView Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Capital didn't have quite enough to beat Elk Valley Christian and fell 7-6.
Faithanna Hall was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zianna Carter made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, PikeView came tearing into Friday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Capital, PikeView also got a great game from a two-way player: Shelby Maddox. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Maddox has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Emma Compton was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Zoey Tupper was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
PikeView's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Capital, they dropped their record down to 7-21 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
