Baseball Recap: Lake Country Lutheran Triumphs

Lake Country Lutheran won the last time they faced Kenosha Christian Life and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lightning's pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lightning.

Jack Poellot made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Poellot was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Menzel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Preston Manthei was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lake Country Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenosha Christian Life only posted an OBP of .118.

Lake Country Lutheran now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kenosha Christian Life, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Country Lutheran will welcome St. John's Northwestern Military Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kenosha Christian Life, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brookfield Academy at 4:30 p.m.
