The Mills University Studies Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Malvern Leopards at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mills University Studies has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Mills University Studies' offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 21-0 to Bauxite, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Miners recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Malvern). They never let Fountain Lake get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won five in a row.
Hattie Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted over her last three contests.
In other batting news, Malvern got a massive performance out of Langston Heathcott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Heathcott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Desiree Amos, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Malvern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mills University Studies' loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Malvern, their record now sits at 14-2.
Mills University Studies suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Malvern when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
