Washington has gone a perfect 10-0 against Martinsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Washington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Morgantown, who was ranked 12th at the time (Washington was ranked eighth). The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mohigans a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Zoe Kesterson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Gabby Bibb was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Carly Constantino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgantown only posted a batting average of .115.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Martinsburg). Everything went their way against East Hardy on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.
Madison Rogers tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.
At the plate, Martinsburg let Daysha Cook and Malayja Williams run wild. Cook got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tianna Sanabria, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Martinsburg's record now sits at 3-12. As for Washington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Martinsburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Washington has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Martinsburg, though, as they've been averaging 10.1 hits. Given Washington's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Washington took their win against Martinsburg when the teams last played on April 1st by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
