Two dominant players in Anthony Rubio and Israel Gonzalez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Burges Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Hanks Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Burges ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Bel Air with a 58-53 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Burges as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Hanks escaped with a win on Saturday against Midland by the margin of a single free throw, 45-44. The victory was just what Hanks needed coming off of a 54-33 loss in their prior game.
Burges' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Hanks, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Things could have been worse for Burges, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-24 loss to Hanks when the teams last played back in December of 2020. Can Burges avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
