The St. Augustine Catholic Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the San Manuel Miners at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Augustine Catholic is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, St. Augustine Catholic came up short against St. David and fell 7-3.
St. Augustine Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Dominguez, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Sam Lila also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
San Manuel not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2025 (when they won 17-1). Everything went their way against San Miguel as they made off with a 14-2 win. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Vipers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Taylor Decker made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, San Manuel got a massive performance out of Tanner Decker, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Decker has posted since back in April of 2025. Marcos Smith was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
San Manuel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
St. Augustine Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for San Manuel, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
St. Augustine Catholic might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from San Manuel when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
