The Maxwell Panthers managed to keep up with the Biggs Wolverines until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Maxwell was dealt a 74-39 defeat at the hands of Biggs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maxwell in their matchups with Biggs: they've now lost three in a row.
Leading Biggs to victory were Emilio Vera and Chris Kroupa. Vera scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Kroupa shot 4-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Kroupa also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Skyler Long, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Maxwell's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-13. As for Biggs, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maxwell will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Los Molinos at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Los Molinos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday. As for Biggs, they will head out on the road to square off against Williams at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Williams has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
