The Clover Blue Eagles lost against the Blythewood Bengals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Clover took a hard 67-53 fall against Blythewood. While losing is never fun, Clover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Blythewood is ranked 11th).
When it comes to explaining why Clover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylon Hoover. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with three steals. Hoover is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Decuir, who scored ten points.
Blythewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Olden, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Taurus Lewis Jr was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Clover and nudges their season record down to 12-11. As for Blythewood, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Clover will head out on the road to take on Fort Mill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Mill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Blythewood, they will head out on the road to take on Rock Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
