The Gordonsville Tigers have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Whitwell Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Gordonsville rose to the challenge on Friday. They slipped by Chattanooga Prep 13-12. That's two games straight that Gordonsville has won by exactly a single point.
Meanwhile, Whitwell stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Red Boiling Springs 55-12 at home. The victory was just what Whitwell needed coming off of a 42-7 defeat in their prior matchup.
Whitwell can attribute much of their success to Bennett Mcdougal, who threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Roberts, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Gordonsville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Whitwell, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Everything came up roses for Gordonsville against Whitwell when the teams last played back in November of 2020 as the squad secured a 49-0 win. Does Gordonsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Whitwell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
