Bellevue is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lloyd Memorial.
Kinley Hawkins and Madalyn Kincaid stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hawkins got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Kincaid got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs. Courtney McCarty was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Ludlow hadn't done well against Calvary Christian recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Evie Orsua was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Orsua was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Ludlow got a massive performance out of Miley Lay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Burke, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Ludlow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Ludlow's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7-1. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bellevue has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Ludlow struggles in that department as they've averaged .548. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
