The Eisenhower Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Nimitz, falling 77-37. While losing is never fun, Eisenhower can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1144th, while Nimitz is ranked 199th).
Eisenhower lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Talaysia Morgan, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Keiora Gaines, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Nimitz got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyndall Roberts out in front who scored 19 points along with seven steals and six assists. Roberts has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniah Richard, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Eisenhower has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Nimitz, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eisenhower will take on MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nimitz, they will head out on the road to square off against Benjamin Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
