Forest Lake is 8-2 against White Bear Lake since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rangers will host the Bears at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Forest Lake 1.3, White Bear Lake 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Forest Lake's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over East Ridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rangers.
Not much got past Avery Muellner, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep East Ridge off the board. Muellner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karianne Drury, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Francie Gregor, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, White Bear Lake had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Ponies 6-4.
Lilly Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Anessa Pe?a was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Maddy Belisle was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
White Bear Lake pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Forest Lake, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Forest Lake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like White Bear Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Forest Lake skirted past White Bear Lake 5-3 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
