Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Gets the Win

Heritage Academy let Bellevue stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Saturday but luckily Heritage Academy prevailed anyway. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Tigers 8-7. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jacob Muse made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Heritage Academy is 4-1 when Muse posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Hensley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Trent Stone was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue only posted a batting average of .240.

Heritage Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bellevue, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Heritage Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Calvary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellevue, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cooper at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
