If the Ribault Trojans were riding high off their 57-15 takedown of the Fletcher Senators last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ribault was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 61-60 to Paxon School For Advanced Studies. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (57), Ribault still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Ribault still got an impressive performance from Alexzondria Gross, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. That's the first time this season that Gross scored 15 or more points. Destiny Donaldson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Ribault smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxon School For Advanced Studies only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Ansley Hicks, who scored 33 points for Paxon School For Advanced Studies. Hicks hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Waymer, who scored 15 points.
Ribault's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ribault will take on Rutherford at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rutherford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 189 points over their last three matchups. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Florida Educational Institute at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
