It was a good run, but the Barrow Whalers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Mt. Edgecumbe. Barrow has struggled against Mt. Edgecumbe recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Barrow saw an underclassman step up: Alex Fruean scored 23 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Uatahouse Tui?fua, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Barrow's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mt. Edgecumbe, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barrow and Bethel will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Bethel is ranked 32nd, while Barrow is ranked 33rd). As for Mt. Edgecumbe, Mt.
