Baseball Game Preview: York Institute Dragons vs. Pickett County Bobcats

York Institute is a perfect 4-0 against Pickett County since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The York Institute Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Pickett County Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Neither York Institute nor Pickett County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Things were looking good for York Institute after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smith County. The Dragons have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pickett County's offense. They came up short against Gordonsville on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Pickett County's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for York Institute, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-3.

Everything went York Institute's way against Pickett County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as York Institute made off with a 15-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for York Institute since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
