The Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Chaminade-Madonna Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archbishop Carroll comes in on ten and Chaminade-Madonna on 12.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Archbishop Carroll walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Archbishop Carroll's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alejandro Isaza, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Isaza hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Ryan Castro also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Chaminade-Madonna faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chaminade-Madonna breezed by Cardinal Newman at home to the tune of 40-0. Chaminade-Madonna might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine games by 21 points or more this season.
Davion Gause was a one-man wrecking crew for Chaminade-Madonna as he rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Gause was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Jeremiah Smith did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Chaminade-Madonna's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Cardinal Newman's QB won't forget Zach Crothers anytime soon given Crothers sacked him twice.
Archbishop Carroll pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Archbishop Carroll has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 389.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Chaminade-Madonna struggles in that department as they've been even better at 449.3 per game.
