Baseball Recap: Hernando Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Hernando put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Southaven Chargers. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Holmes looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Luke Romine was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Axton Westmoreland, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hernando hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Hernando's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Southaven, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Southaven will challenge Olive Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hernando will be paying especially close attention to Southaven's game: after Southaven faces off against Olive Branch, they'll take on Hernando again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
