The West Point Pointers were the 45-22 winner over the Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. West Point was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 29-28 to Carver College and Career Academy. West Point has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Carver College and Career Academy to victory were AJ Sykes and Ianaisia Washington. Sykes scored 15 points along with three steals, while Washington scored nine points along with ten blocks and six rebounds. Washington is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Laila Nious was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
West Point's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Carver College and Career Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
West Point will head out on the road to take on Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carver College and Career Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Charles City at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th.
