Valor Christian is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Spartans are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Valor Christian Eagles will take on the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Valor Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They really took it to Chatfield for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-38 win at home. With Valor Christian ahead 43-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Quinn Vansickle and Peyton Jones were among the main playmakers for Valor Christian as the former scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds and the latter scored 23 points along with four steals. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Rylie Beers, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Doherty didn't have too much trouble with the Lancers on the road on Thursday as they won 53-37. Doherty pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lancers cut but never quite recovered from.
Valor Christian is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Doherty, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Valor Christian took their victory against the Spartans when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 62-38. Will Valor Christian repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
