The South Delta Bulldogs came tearing into Thursday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down West Tallahatchie 51-34. South Delta pushed the score to 43-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Choctaws cut but never quite recovered from.
Despite the loss, West Tallahatchie still got an impressive performance from Mi'Kenzi Christian, who scored 20 points. That was a full 58.8% of West Tallahatchie's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
South Delta pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for West Tallahatchie, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Delta will face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Bolivar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for West Tallahatchie, they will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
