After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pershing County, the West Wendover Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Coral Academy of Science - Reno and snuck past 43-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Wendover also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Despite the loss, Coral Academy of Science - Reno still got an impressive performance from Ashleen Kaur, who scored 13 points along with five steals. Kaur is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alexa Lupercio, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
West Wendover now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Coral Academy of Science - Reno, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
West Wendover will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Battle Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Battle Mountain's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so West Wendover's offense will have their work cut out for West Wendover. Coral Academy of Science - Reno will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Incline at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Incline is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
