Baseball Recap: Lake Region Wins Going Away Against Ridge Community

After losing to Ridge Community the last time they met, Lake Region decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lake Region Thunder were the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over the Ridge Community Bolts on Wednesday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Dan Colon was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jomar Caceres, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake Region and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ridge Community, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Lake Region will have a chance to go back-to-back against Ridge Community: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
