After flying high against the Tri-State Christian Huskies last Friday, the Unity Christian Knights came back down to earth. Unity Christian took a hard 44-26 fall against Northeast on Monday. Unity Christian has not had much luck with Northeast recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Unity Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Merema and Kaylie Hays. Merema scored 16 points along with three blocks, while Hays scored five points.
Unity Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Northeast, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unity Christian will take on Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-State Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Tipton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Iowa (Tipton is ranked 98th, while Northeast is ranked 90th).
