The Como Park Cougars stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Paul Central 68-18 on the road. Given Como Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while St. Paul Central is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, St. Paul Central had strong showings from Sasha Ickes, who scored eight points, and Kyla Parker, who scored seven points.
The win makes it two in a row for Como Park and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for St. Paul Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Como Park won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Columbia Heights at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for St. Paul Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Washington Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington Tech's defense has only allowed 27.3 points per game this season, so St. Paul Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
