ONA, W. Va. - After trading leads three times,
Cabell Midland (Ona, W. Va.) snatched the lead for good when
Coy Pettit thew a touchdown to
Dontae Hendricks in the first quarter, paving the way for victory over Hurricane (W. Va.) 63-14.
After taking the lead on a Pettit touchdown pass to Hendricks in the first quarter, the Knights were up 36-14 at the half.
Cabell Midland grew its lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. CM scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Teran Barnitz.
Hendricks and
Kasey Thomas ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Redskins. Hendricks scored two touchdowns on the ground and Thomas added two as well.
Hendricks played well for the Ona school in the victory. The junior running back. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Knights came away with a 23-14 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Hurricane, which notched a 41-21 victory over Princeton in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for Cabell Midland, which lost to Huntington last week, 19-7. The loss snapped Hurricane's three-game winning streak.
In a Mountain State game next week Cabell Midland (4-1) takes on Wilson, and Hurricane (3-2) will go up against George Washington also in a Mountain State game.
