After flying high against Freeport last Thursday, the Monroe Cheesemakers came back down to earth. Monroe has to be aching after a bruising 77-57 defeat to the Oregon Panthers on Saturday. Monroe was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oregon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played, back in December of last year.
The loss dropped the Cheesemakers' record to 8-7. The win was the fourth in a row for the Panthers and raised their record to 14-4.
Monroe is staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Edgewood. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Monroe, but that can only make success all the sweeter. As for Oregon, they will face off against Stoughton on Tuesday. Oregon won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
