Taft (Calif.).
The lead that the Generals took on a
Derrick Barton touchdown run with 7:00 left in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
With the win Shafter extended its winning streak to six games. SHS defeated the Thunderbirds 45-0 last week.
The Wildcats'
Vaughn Richardson played well. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The Generals' standout player in the win was Barton. He ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Taft took, 48-0.
The loss comes after Taft defeated Arvin 23-9 last week. The loss snapped THS's 2-game winning streak.
Taft (2-4) goes up against Chavez in a South Sequoia game matchup next week, while Shafter (6-0) locks horns with Bakersfield Christian also in a South Sequoia game.
