The Indian Rocks Christian Eagles lost against the Northside Christian Mustangs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Indian Rocks Christian was just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to Northside Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Indian Rocks Christian in their matchups with Northside Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Indian Rocks Christian saw an underclassman step up: Anthony Harris rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Harris' longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northside Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Van wormer, who threw for 174 yards and a touchdown. Zuri Watson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Indian Rocks Christian's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-3. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Northside Christian, New Smyrna Beach, and Fort Meade. As for Northside Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Rocks Christian will challenge LaBelle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northside Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Zephyrhills Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Zephyrhills Christian Academy is ranked 236th, while Northside Christian is ranked 261st).
