This season hasn't been kind to the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots, who are still winless after their 14th match. They fell 59-46 to Wisner-Pilger on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Clarkson/Leigh of the 56-42 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Clarkson/Leigh saw an underclassman step up: Tucker Matthies scored 13 points along with two steals. Conner Jurgensen was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Clarkson/Leigh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clarkson/Leigh's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Wisner-Pilger, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-14.
Clarkson/Leigh on the road again on Saturday and play against Bancroft-Rosalie at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for Wisner-Pilger, they will play host again and welcome North Bend Central, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Thursday. North Bend Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wisner-Pilger in Nebraska (North Bend Central is ranked 64th, while Wisner-Pilger is ranked 265th).
