Softball Recap: Wheatmore Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southwestern Randolph, Wheatmore was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the East Davidson Golden Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Bella Dill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddie Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emma Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Wheatmore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Wheatmore's record now sits at 5-9. As for East Davidson, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheatmore will take on Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Davidson, they will challenge Thomasville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. East Davidson is facing Thomasville at the right time seeing as Thomasville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
