Baseball Game Preview: Palm Harbor University Hurricanes vs. Osceola Warriors

Palm Harbor University is 7-2 against Osceola since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Palm Harbor University will head out to challenge Osceola at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Palm Harbor University has eight straight wins, Osceola has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Thursday, Palm Harbor University was able to grind out a solid victory over Indian Rocks Christian, taking the game 9-4.

Palm Harbor University got a great performance from Blye Monfred as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Monfred has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sebbie Silva was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Palm Harbor University is undefeated when Silva posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Godoy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Osceola came up short against Buchholz on Saturday and fell 6-1.

Osceola had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Aiden Dyals and Brock Golden Dyals pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Golden pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Dyals a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Palm Harbor University's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Palm Harbor University skirted past Osceola 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palm Harbor University since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
