The Families of Faith Christian Academy Screaming Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Yorkville Christian Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Families of Faith Christian Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against South Shore Homeschool Athletics on Saturday. The Screaming Eagles put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 24-4 victory.
Eli Jacknick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Jacknick was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Grant Pavey was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Hunter Scheidt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.
Meanwhile, while Yorkville Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for St. Edward. The Mustangs blew past the Green Wave 16-0. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Yorkville Christian also got a great performance from Nolan Hooper as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Vugteveen, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brody Davis, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Yorkville Christian and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Families of Faith Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Families of Faith Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Yorkville Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024.
