The Whiting Oilers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Highland 63-57. Whiting has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Oilers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shawn Donaldson, who scored 16 points. Yovanni Garro was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Highland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kristijan Zekavica out in front who scored 14 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kurtlin Hayes, who scored 15 points.
Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Highland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Whiting is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Calumet New Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. Highland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. North Newton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
