Two dominant signal callers in Cameron Hackworth and Gage Baker are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sabino Sabercats will head out on the road to face off against the Paradise Honors Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Sabino sitting on four straight wins and Paradise Honors on six.
Sabino extended their postseason success on Saturday against Mohave. They enjoyed a cozy 30-16 win over the Thunderbirds.
Sabino can attribute much of their success to Hackworth, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns, and Mason Cade, who gained 107 total yards and two touchdowns. Sabino also got help from Shamar Berryhill who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
Sabino's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Cade was especially locked on to Mohave's QB and sacked him three times.
Valley Christian typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday Paradise Honors proved too difficult a challenge. Paradise Honors took down Valley Christian 72-56. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
It was another big night for Baker, who threw for 656 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes. Baker is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Josh Morales was another key contributor, picking up 287 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Sabino is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Paradise Honors, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
