The Hopewell Vikings will face off against the Mohawk Area Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hopewell's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Beaver Falls as they made off with a 13-0 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Alana Covalt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Covalt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Victoria Mann was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kara Barkovich, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Mohawk Area had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Quakers.
Like Hopewell, Mohawk Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Reagan Magno. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Magno has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Moskal, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Alivia Hare was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mohawk Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Mohawk Area's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Hopewell, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Hopewell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mohawk Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Hopewell might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Mohawk Area when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
