Hoisington has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Phillipsburg Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hoisington proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 43) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Ellsworth out 37-34. Given Hoisington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Ellsworth is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Phillipsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Trego on Tuesday, taking the game 35-28.
Hoisington's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Phillipsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Hoisington suffered a grim 47-21 defeat to Phillipsburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hoisington was down 28-5.
