AAAA Region VII recap Oct. 3, 2012
Caleb Kinlaw of Goose Creek ran for the longest rushing play in AAAA Region VII this season against Beaufort last week. Kinlaw's team bested the Eagles as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 137 in all.
Cane Bay suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 26-21 loss to Cane Bay. Cane Bay had been ranked 24th, but fell to 33 following the defeat.
Goose Creek's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dantez Bennamon threw for 58 yards and Tramel Terry had 27 yards receiving. Caleb Holmes helped Goose Creek's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Goose Creek's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bennamon has thrown for 446 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Terry has 24 catches for 294 yards. Kinlaw leads the league in rushing with 561 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Stratford takes on Russell Zehr's team. The Knights are in second place, while Cane Bay is in fourth place.
Chuck Reedy's team took down Beaufort 65-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kinlaw in the win.
